The LBTUAM operates several superconducting magnets, both commercial and home-made, to run experiments using local probes (STM, STM/AFM, see Facilities). Four of these solenoids give access to magnetic fields above 12 T, with 17 T being the maximum field available.

At the UAM workshop (SEGAINVEX), singular magnets have been designed and built. They are operated at  CSIC, UAM and IMDEA Nanociencia. The helium production at the Campus allows having more than 25 superconducting solenoids within the Campus.
